'tis an odd world in which an unpublicised snapshot of some sand which I absent-mindedly took on a New South Wales beach in January 2003 can gradually become the seventh most-viewed item in my Flickr Photostream.
I can tell you why that's such a popular image - it makes a great texture and if I'd spotted it I'd probably have used it on my latest site design (as long as you wouldn't have minded).
You can multiply this in photoshop with a layer containing a picture and it'll add a real grain to it. And there are a host of other things you can do with a picture like this. Sand is limitless in its usefulness!
